Are you extremely familiar with a topic and want to sell your own course online?
Well, then you have come to the perfect place, in this article we are going to be talking about how you can create and sell your own course online. There are many different ways of doing this, so we will give you a little broad outline to get you going, and then you can look more into the details depending on which path you want to take.
We are also going to be taking a look at how you can sell your course effectively and how to actually get eyeballs on it.
How To Sell Your Own Digital Course Step-By-Step
Let’s talk about all the steps you need to take to sell your own course online.
- Choose a platform
- Create your course
- Upload it
- Set a price point
- Create the Sales page
- Create a marketing strategy
- Start Marketing!
Those are the 7 steps, so let’s take a look at them in more detail. I guess you could switch around 1 and 2 if you wanted to, but we like to choose the platform first, so we are sure in which format and how the video should be created.
1. Choose a Platform
Firstly, you need to choose a platform.
Here are some common options:
- Kajabi
- Kartra
- ClickFunnels
- Udemy
We don’t really like to recommend ClickFunnels or Udemy, for the following reasons:
- Clickfunnels can be extremely buggy and is quite costly, considering you would still have to get an autoresponder.
- With Udimi, you’re not going to have the control you want and you are missing out on all the other marketing tools from other options.
Lastly, we have Kajabi and Kartra.
Both are great options, but Kajabi cost $50 more per month and has a little less features.
However, with Kajabi, you won’t need to upgrade to the next pricing plan, until you have 10,000 contact.
Either way, both are good options, but we also recently discovered that Kartra has a 30-day trial, so feel free to give that a go!
2. Create Your Course!
Once, you have found the platform you want to use, create your course!
There really isn’t too much we can say here, but good luck and make it on a level that you would purchase it too!
3. Upload it!
Again, upload it in the needed format to whichever platform you chose.
Here you also want to add all the instructions, on each page, change the layout and stuff like that.
Once, it’s all ready, you can move onto the next step.
4. Set a price point
Now, you want to look at it and set a price point.
If it’s your first course, you could consider setting the price pretty low, so that you can make a few sales easier.
Once, you have made a few sales, you can put the pricing up and actually even get some of your existing members to become affiliates, to make even more sales.
5. Create a Sales Page
Now, that you have got the backend of your product, you need the front end, the sales page.
It’s recommended that you also connect an autoresponder and maybe ask for an email first, as this way, you can follow up with the people who don’t buy.
So, if you really want to make sales set up:
- 1 landing page (with an email opt-in)
- 1 Sales page
- 1 Automation sequence
6. Create a Marketing Strategy
Next, you need to create your marketing strategy.
This way, you can start marketing your course effectively.
How are you going to reach your customers?
Is it paid ads?
We don’t really recommend for you to get into paid ads unless you have some experience. Instead, you can use Facebook Groups, alongside YouTube to market your course for free.
Create content, stay consistent and eventually, you will get some eyeballs (Assuming you are promoting your content and networking as well).
7. Start Marketing!
Once you have your strategy, it’s time to get going!
Stick to the plan, stay consistent and the main thing is DO IT!
See where you can improve overtime and if you can improve, then improve!
